About us

We take the stress out of
student finances.

Money is one of the most stressful parts of being a student. We're here to make it easier, starting with the grants you qualify for.

Our story

Why we built this.

hi finance was born out of a frustration. Our founder, Zach, graduated from the University of Alberta's Finance program and spent his early career in wealth management at one of Canada's biggest banks, giving top-tier financial advice to the ultra-wealthy. But it didn't sit right with him that this kind of help was exclusive to the top 0.01%, so he left to pursue his MBA and figure out how to change that.

Back in school for his MBA, surrounded by students, he realized they're making the biggest money decisions of their lives for the first time, from their first student loans to their first credit card, with no one to guide them through it all. The people with the most at stake were getting the least help.

That's why hi finance exists. The financial help the wealthy take for granted shouldn't be reserved for people who already have money. We started with grants, helping students cover tuition today, but the goal is bigger: students who feel in control of their money instead of afraid of it, with hi finance in their corner through all of school.

Our mission

What we believe.

Help shouldn't be a luxury.

Good financial guidance has become something reserved for the wealthy. We believe the people who need it most deserve it just as much.

Students get overlooked.

They're making the biggest money decisions of their lives for the first time, and they get the least support. We built hi finance exactly for them.

Money shouldn't be scary.

Tuition and loans are stressful enough. We want to take that weight off, so students can focus on why they came to school in the first place.
